BANNED FOR LIFE - SILVER DOLLAR BLUES

THE SONGS - AS REVIEWED BY ECCENTRIC MUSIC JOURNO ‘MR S. PINE’

SILVER DOLLAR BLUES - In classic blues tradition, the band delivers this song inspired seemingly by a man they know, continuing their study of the seedy blues domain that has not, nor will ever leave our world! The song bounces and grooves, and the chorus lets the listener know how a broken man’s ‘last silver dollar’ is spent. Raunchy guitars from Horace Bevan and exceptional honky tonk blues piano track played by special guest and Cliff Richard’s musical director Mr Alan Park.

BANNED FOR LIFE - NATURAL BLONDE

THE SONGS - AS REVIEWED BY ECCENTRIC MUSIC JOURNO ‘MR S. PINE’

NATURAL BLONDE - See and hear Bourbon Street return to the rock genre they are totally comfortable with. Hard driving and punter friendly, this rock & roll gem explores the sexy and traditional side of rock. Undertone of the lyrics have clever inuendo about the age old magnetic authority of the teasing seductress ‘The Natural Blonde’. Conjuring up images of eternal feline legends like Jane Mansfield and Marylin Munroe to modern footloose and fancy-free playmates like Paris Hilton and Brittany Spears. This is sexy, arousing, anthemic, good time rock & roll of an ageless tradition, delivered with an identity all of it’s own.

BANNED FOR LIFE - SHE SAID

THE SONGS - AS REVIEWED BY ECCENTRIC MUSIC JOURNO ‘MR S. PINE’

SHE SAID - A ryhtmically dominant epic, with slide guitars and slow grunge ecapsulating the true story of a tragic tale from Brisbane, involving a young man killed in a late night, one sided brawl a few years ago. The lyric is howling ‘oh wicked child, they should take you up instead’, referring to the violent attacker should be the soul to be taken away. True of so many tragedies, why should the victim’s soul be the precious one to be lost?

BANNED FOR LIFE - ROSIE’S BAR & GRILL

THE SONGS - AS REVIEWED BY ECCENTRIC MUSIC JOURNO ‘MR S. PINE’

ROSIE’S BAR & GRILL - Captivating pop melancholy wrapped in beautiful melodic tones with a smoothe rythmic softness. There is a subtle insight into the writer’s insight and personal experiences into betrayal and sadness, and a disease which can now be described as a growing global social mental health phenomena ‘Depression’.

BANNED FOR LIFE - NEW ALBUM - BOURBON STREET

Bourbon Street

Unlike many of today’s throw-together vintage bands, Bourbon Street is just as it always was - all four original members, still committed to giving every ounce of energy and sweat to every gig, as if it was their last.

While the venues and music scene have changed dramatically since the band first formed, for Bourbon Street the sound remains the same.

20 Years on…New Album

The time was ripe again, and very soon after the groups fourth album began to gestate. This would come to be their first album in more than 10 years, since the release of Time Flies in 1993. Recorded at Old Dog Studio, Corndale, NSW & Airlock Studio, Brisbane, the album titled ‘Banned For Life’ is due for official release February 2007. Bourbon Street is inspired to take to the road promoting the album, considering it to be their best studio work yet.

20 Years on…cont.

At all times in Bourbon Street, there always exists a perpetuating desire and compelling need to keep making music together. Over 2003 and 2004 the band saw a new and fresh creative energy enter the House of Bourbon. After a significant time apart, the band reunited for a shamelessly un-rehearsed low key private wedding gig in Tyagarah, NSW. This was July 2003, on the eve that guitarist Horace Bevan flew direct to New York City with the thought of relocating there permanently, depending where musical opportunities took him. Around this time though something happened, a vibe in the group clicked, and the band once again had purpose requiring attention and action to take.

20 Years on…cont

In their first six years, Bourbon Street toured the East Coast of Australia tirelessly, building a strong following of devotees. During this time, they released three albums, all independently produced and clocked up literally thousands of gigs. From 1993, the band spent just over a decade reforming almost continuously for small tours and special occasions. Always remaining in close contact with each other, the band members all stayed pro-active in the industry, engaging in their various musical pursuits. Over this decade, whilst enjoying their individual projects, the band members remained drawn to each other seem ably by a force greater than the sum total of themselves. This artistic magnetism can be likened to the rock and roll magic that exists between members of bands like Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones and Neil Young and Crazy Horse, to mention but a few of the greats.
